Ancient Greek Olympics
Today we learnt about the Ancient Greek Olympics, and compared them to the modern day Olympics. We listened to some of Mrs Jefferson’s running music, and by looking at evidence on a pot, we learnt that the Ancient Greeks listened to music while they trained too! We held our own mini Ancient Greek Olympics on the field; we had a really fun time!
Pankration
This event combined wrestling and boxing. We only pretended! Molly was the winner for the best ‘fighting’ moves
Equestrian event
We named and then mounted our imaginary horses, before galloping around the course. Molly also won this event!
Jumping
The Ancient Greeks used weights called halteres to increase the length of their jump. We didn’t have any halteres, but we tried to jump as far as we could. All the jumps were fairly close, but Aidan won this event.
Running
We had a short running race, and Taylor was the winner.
Javelin
Aidan threw his javelin the furthest, well done!
Discus
The winner of the discus event was Max, with an incredibly long throw!
