Yesterday, Brandon, Ella and Eddie had their visit to Watts Gallery. They began by looking in detail at the terracotta work around the chapel. They had a go at recording parts of the terracotta work that particularly caught their eye.

Back in the art studio, they used their drawings to create a terracotta tile. This took a lot of skill, in rolling the clay to the same thickness, scoring and slipping to attach details to their base tile and carefully transporting it to the kiln area.

After lunch, it was time to take a good look at the portraits in the art gallery. They had a go at being art detectives and looked for clues in the paintings that told us something about the subject. Mrs Horrocks showed everyone the stages to drawing a portrait and add tone and texture. Then it was our go to chose our favourite portrait and have a go at drawing it.
