Blackberry picking at Durleighmarsh Farm

Today, we visited Alison at Durleighmarsh Farm. We wanted to celebrate British Food Fortnight by making a traditional dish – Blackberry Crumble!

Alison showed us around the farm. We looked at the seasonal fruit and vegetables that are ready for picking now. Alison also explained that there are lots of crops that have not done very well this year because of the bad weather in the summer. An example of this has been the pumpkins!

We picked brocoli, runner beans and sweetcorn. We had a taste of these vegetables. They were so delicious and fresh. Everyone tasted something, even if they didn’t really want to or were afraid to – great job!

After we picked some blackberries and raspberries, we returned to school to cook them and create a Crumble. It was delicious!
