Larch and Kingfishers Classes

On Thursday, we went to Durleighmarsh Farm to see Alison. Alison showed us how the fruit and vegetable plants were developing buds and shoots ready to turn into fruits. Alison also showed us the new cafe that is being built!

We looked at the Gooseberries, Blackberries, Broadbeans, Asparagus and Rhubarb. Alison let us pull our own Rhubarb to take back to school for cooking. Whilst we were there, we saw the Asparagus lorry that takes the vegetable to the distributors. We also saw an Asparagus picker on his machine.

At the end, Alison showed us the Raspberry canes and Blueberry plants. We weighed our Rhubarb at the back of the shop before going back to school.

In the afternoon, we used our Rhubarb to make a Rhubarb cake. It was delicious!

What lovely pictures, looks like you all had a wonderful time at the Farm and I think the Rhubarb leaf hats are particularly fetching!
